Summary: Plans, directs, coordinates and participates in special programs and activities for residents. Activities include: wellness, trips, dramatics, social activities, on/offsite entertainment, continuing education, and arts & crafts.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans, organizes, directs, and participates in special programs, activities, events and outings that appeal to the community’s residents and facilitates resident participation.
Evaluates resident needs and interests through personal interaction and committee participation.
Develops activities to meet the needs of residents based on industry trends, resident interests, and community objectives.
Schedules and coordinates special programs and guest speakers.
Schedules and coordinates programs and activities with other departments.
Prepares and submits the finalized calendar to the community Directors for the upcoming month by the 20th of the previous month for Independent Living and Assisted Living.
Produces a monthly activity calendar and special flyers, coordinates the publication of a weekly newsletter, and creates & maintains information on the community electronic communications system.
Assists with marketing events as requested.
Keeps residents informed of activities and encourages participation through multiple venues.
Counsels and encourages residents to develop leisure activities.
Obtains resources to instruct residents in activities and techniques such as: sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation techniques.
Encourages residents to get involved in the activities program and resident committees.
Coordinates a dynamic volunteer program.
Observes, analyzes and surveys resident participation and reaction to activities, modifying the activities program as needed.
Conducts community programs as scheduled or on an as needed basis.
Enforces the community’s policies, rules and regulations to ensure the smooth and orderly operation of community programs.
Provides transportation services for residents via driving and operating a company-provided automobile or van on a scheduled or non-scheduled basis.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
