The Data Scientist will be responsible for the identification of valuable data and the analysis of that data to uncover trends and patterns in order to solve data-analytics problems and find actionable results.

Below are some of the responsibilities that a Data Scientist may be expected to assume in their position:

• Expertise in all phases of data science, from initial discovery through cleaning, model selection, validation, and deployment
• Knowledge and understanding of common data warehouse structures
• Experience with using statistical approaches to solve analytical problems
• Proficiency in common machine learning frameworks
• Experience with public cloud platforms and services
• Familiarity with a wide variety of data sources, including databases, public or private APIs and standard data formats, like JSON, YAML and XML
• Ability to identify new opportunities to apply machine learning to business processes to improve their efficiency and effectiveness
• Ability to design and implement reporting tools (dashboards) that can track key business metrics and provide actionable insights
• Experience with techniques for both qualitative and quantitative analysis
• Ability to share qualitative and quantitative analysis in a way the audience will understand
• Familiarity with machine learning techniques, such as K-nearest neighbors, Naive Bayes, random forests, and support vector machines
• Ability to design and implement validation tests
• Ability to aggregate data from disparate sources
• Ability to conduct ad hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.

The Must-Haves: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.

• Must currently reside in the US.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
• Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other Information Technology major (Or equivalent work experience)
• Experience: minimum of 5 years as a Data Scientist.
• Must possess a minimum of 3 years of DoDAF experience.
• 5+ Years’ Experience working with Department of Veteran Affairs or other Government agencies (Required)
• 5+ Years’ Experience with Coding skills, such as R, Python or Scala (Required)
• Experience working with business owners and end users.
• Previous experience in business intelligence, analysis, or other related field.
• Knowledge of software requirements and testing tools.
• Knowledge of business process engineering, requirement engineering, and testing practices.
• Possess the ability to create/analyze requirements accountability records.
• Ability to verify that software and its documentation is compliant with applicable requirements functionally.
• The candidate must be able to work in a team environment and be proficient in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to form positive working relationships with customers, peers, and team members.
• Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and listening.
• Knowledge and use of industry-standard project methods, tools and techniques.(burndown, velocity charts, metrics, etc.).
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Experience with online collaboration tools (MS Teams, Zoom, etc.).
• Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to re-prioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with Agile development, specifically Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP) and Kanban

Preferred Skills/Experience: The experience listed below are preferred for this job

• Familiarity with Agile Development, specifically Scrum framework
• Familiarity with a wide variety of data sources, including databases, public or private APIs and standard data formats, like JSON, YAML and XML
• 5+ Years’ Experience in visualization tools, such as Tableau and Power BI

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
