ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervises all aspects of the laboratory (including main lab, phlebotomy, and ER lab), including the dailyefficient operation of all sections, ordering of supplies, maintaining budget limits and expense reports, payrolledits and accruals, scheduling, personnel policy interpretation, counseling of employees, etc.
Available at all times for consultative and/or immediate callback, or makes appropriate substitutearrangements when not accessible.
Ensures effective integration labs services with the hospital’s primary functions. Coordinates and integrateslaboratory services with other departments. Participates appropriately in selecting outside sources for neededservices.
Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services. Maintains ahigh quality work environment necessary for excellent patient care by ensuring that standards set forth by thestate, JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, and Corporate Compliance and other agencies of laboratory accreditation andlicensure are met.
Ensures and establishes data gathering mechanisms to assist in annual operating budgets, capital budgetsand projections for future demands and expansions. Properly recommends space and other resourcesneeded by the department.
Performs various functions on the Laboratory Information System (LIS) such as maintenance of computerdictionaries, annual review and any needed update of CPT codes for tests, reviews medical necessitydocumentation, ordering of supplies, correspondence with other department heads via email, writing andmaintaining lab policies and procedures.
Attends meetings and participates on various committees within the hospital. Attends professional meetingsto expand technical and managerial knowledge. Continuously assesses and strives to improve the laboratory’sperformance.
Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care.
Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services.
Maintains a productive atmosphere with high morale Maintains employee records including current license,training records daily work record, counseling records, etc. Provides for orientation, in-service training, andcontinuing education of all persons in the department.
Keeps lab current with regulatory compliance required by OSHA, CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, HIPAA, Code of Conduct.Ensures that the laboratory is ready for CAP & JCAHO inspection by submitting all necessary informationneeded by these organizations.

ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS
? Incumbent must attend ethics and code of conduct training provided by LRMC Education Department within30 days of employment and annually thereafter.
? Incumbent must have HIPAA training provided by LRMC Education Department within 30 days ofemployment and annually thereafter.
? Will participate in committees/teams/work groups as assigned.
LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES
Incumbent supervises the performance of moderate and high complexity laboratory procedures across themajor areas of the laboratory. Recognizes obvious errors in results and investigates for probable cause.Listens attentively to employees, hospital staff, physicians, and patients to investigate and solve problems.
Demonstrates the ability to assess a situation from many perspectives, consider various alternatives, andchoose appropriate action. The Laboratory Manager combines ethical judgment with technical skills withinpolicy and legal guidelines of the institution. Should demonstrate effective judgment in the selection andutilization of various data sources to identify problems in the delivery of care.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Current KY license for a Medical Technologist. Minimum of ten (10) years working experience as a technologist and/or department supervisor is preferred.

Pay: $34.24 - $51.36 per hour
