The primary responsibilities of the position include:
· Developing, implementing, and updating school policies and procedures; contingency plans, emergency preparedness, safety management, and student/parent handbook, while remaining in compliance with VDOE regulations at all times
· Identifying the need for, administration of, and documentation of educational assessments, behavior assessments, etc.
· Organizing and ensuring completion of SOL (or adaptive) testing including timeliness of testing and that appropriate accommodations are met
· Establishing yearly school schedules, including daily bell schedules & grading/reporting schedules
· Responsible for evaluating, training, providing assistance to Special Education Teacher(s) and reviewing documentation including data collection, progress notes/reports, IEPs, grading, parent meeting notes, etc.
· Analyzing classroom practices and methods for improvement of instruction as well as assisting staff in identifying needs to improve student achievement and staff participation
· Remains on the premises of the school while the school is in operation or assigns a designee to supervise in their absence. A designee must meet the qualifications of the Education Coordinator and/or Instructional Leader position, comply with all applicable regulations for each function, and demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures applicable to the position.
· Working individually with students as needed
· Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all client and personnel information
· Ensuring the safety and care of our students, and team members as well as assisting with supporting students with needs related to, cleanliness, health and overall wellbeing to include, making referrals as necessary for additional services a family may need.
· Communicating with LEA school personnel & case managers involved in a student’s placement, programs & transition.
· Coordinate IEP meetings with teachers and attend if necessary
· Planning and tracking for necessary emergency preparedness events and drills
· Ensuring receipt of all applications and service agreements (if applicable) for students and providing to Clinical Director and/or Regional Director
· Supporting 2 school locations including Rocky Mount & Roanoke, VA

Education, Experience, and Skills:
o Professional Virginia Special Education Teaching License required or reciprocal state license
o Advanced training and experience in the implementation of school-based instruction & basic knowledge of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
o BCBA/BCaBA preferred not required
o Ability to supervise staff effectively, both individually as well as team management
o Excellent data tracking, documentation, and time management skills
o Case coordination skills.
o Knowledge of appropriate governing board regulations
o Experience with children with developmental disabilities
o Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations
o Excellent interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills
o Able to drive a motor vehicle, move up to 50lbs, and be able to physically move for up to 8 hours a day in 3- hour blocks including climbing stairs.
