Job Description:

Parsons is now hiring a Glovebox Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a desire to work on creating innovative, practical solutions for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). In this role you will provide oversight support as a for large-sized nuclear projects, or a subtask of a larger project, in accordance with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your experience at an engineering design level, will propel your career and leadership opportunities forward. We need our Mechanical Engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environments, and have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Serves as senior-level technical consultant within area of expertise. Creates enhanced technical solutions to meet client and regulatory requirements and actively seeks improvements to work processes.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in design review, fabrication, operations and maintenance of glovebox material-handling systems for the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) in support of the NNSA APMO
  • Provide technical support for the management and coordination of projects by reviewing and analyzing technical/scientific and programmatic issues, activities, and making recommendations regarding the activities to the Federal Project Director
  • Participate in project coordination and technical meetings and conduct walk-through site visits
  • Performs technical reviews and assessments in accordance with Savannah River APMO Conduct of Assessment and Management Procedure
  • Provide recommendations on opportunities for improvement to project work scope
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical or nuclear engineering or design related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 15+ years of glovebox systems design experience, including experience in one or more specialty areas like laboratory design, clean room and analytical equipment
  • Professional Engineer registration or certification in field of expertise is recommended
  • Must be a US Citizen


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Holds a Department of Energy “Q” clearance or ability to obtain.

  • Familiarity with design of glovebox work area, top works, continuous air-monitoring, material handling and ancillary equipment
  • Familiarity with DOE Orders (O) and Standards (STD) especially DOE O 422.1/458.1 and DOE-STD-1020/-1066/-1098/-1128/-1189/-3024
  • Familiarity with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), especially 10 CFR 10/835; 29 CFR 1910
  • Working knowledge of AGS-G001/-G005/-G006/-G013; ANS-2.26/-8.1; ASME AG-1/B20.1/B31.3/B31.5; ASTM C852/C1217/D2000; NUREG-0700
  • Broad comprehension of ASHRAE Handbook Section 2-4; ANSI, AWS, IEEE, ISA and NFPA codes and standards
  • Knowledge of ergonomic glovebox designs that will be operated and maintained in a nuclear facility environment
  • Knowledge of pressure protection and fabrication attributes for gloveboxes and airlocks
  • Understanding of HVAC and fire protection design of gloveboxes and its interface with balance of plant
  • Working knowledge of Creo Parametric 3D Modeling Software and Navisworks 3D Viewer or Revit
  • Ability to begin performing with minimal supervision

Salary Range:

$92,200.00 - $161,400.00
