TOWN OF NEW CANAAN
GROUNDSMAN II
The Town of New Canaan seeks qualified candidates for the position Groundsman II. This is a full-time union position that works under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent. Performs routine equipment operation and maintenance. Makes occasional personal contacts with the general public. May exercise partial supervision over employees doing related work.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Operates trucks, power lawn mower, power roller, small tractors, and other equipment. Checks tires, oil, water, batteries, and performs other light maintenance on motorized equipment and makes repairs to power mowers. Seeds, rakes, mow, trims, waters and performs other maintenance tasks at sports fields and in other areas throughout the town. Performs routine tasks on bleachers, stands, tennis court fence, and other park structures. Operates small tractor in plowing snow off ponds, sidewalks, and municipal parking lots.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of two years of high school. One to two years of experience as a driver or light equipment operator.
Background investigation and pre-employment physical required. Equal opportunity employer M/F/D/V.
