Position Summary:
Performs skilled work in the operation of complex construction/maintenance equipment. Performs tasks of more than average difficulty involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of assigned equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Operate heavy and light equipment including but not limited to: vac-con, street sweeper, front-end loader, backhoe, forklifts, lighting loaders, etc.
2. Operation of heavy equipment in support of the City’s construction and infrastructure maintenance needs.
3. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
4. Perform daily pre-trip and post trip inspections of equipment; keep equipment clean and in good repair.
5. Transport equipment to and from the job site and City garage on trailers.
6. Assist and support other sections, divisions, and department for City events
7. Support and assist Divisional crews in their construction and equipment needs, including but not limited to; performing concrete, asphalt and brick repairs.
8. Regular in-person attendance during City and department business hours, since face-to-face interaction and coordination of work with other employees, outside colleagues, residents, or vendors, and all immediate access to documents or other information located on in the workplace is required.

Minimum Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of grounds maintenance and general maintenance tasks and procedures.
2. Knowledge of methods and procedures relative to the installation, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, curbing, drainage systems, water lines, meters, sewer lines, underdrains and irrigation systems.
3. The ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying environmental and adverse weather conditions.
4. Skilled in the operation and maintenance of equipment and tools related to the position.
5. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
6. Capable of following written and oral instructions.
7. Working knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
8. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public and co-workers.
9. Knowledge of and skill in the use of common hand tools and mechanical equipment.
10. Knowledge of operating light and medium construction equipment.
11. Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions and to perform a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks.
12. Knowledge of basic mathematics.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Applicant must be a high School graduate or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
· Applicant must have two (2) years related manual labor and technical experience in infrastructure maintenance.
· One (1) year experience operating heavy equipment in a utility construction field, to include experience in repair and preventive maintenance of heavy equipment.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
· Must possess and maintain a valid Class "A" Commercial Florida Driver's License.
· Applicant must obtain within 90 days of hire FDOT TTC/MOT Certification
· Basic IS-700 within 6 months
· Basic ICS-100 within 6 months
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Full-time position. Requires work outside of normal business hours in emergency and maintenance circumstances.

Experience:
- Heavy equipment operation: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- CDL A (Required)
- FDOT TTC/MOT within 90 days (Preferred)

- Basic IS- 100 (Preferred)
- Driver's License (Required)
