Overview: Human Resources Onboarding Specialist

The HR Onboarding Specialist will work closely with the Director of Human Resources for a mid-to-large sized nonprofit organization to help manage employee recruitment, hiring process by reviewing and processing new hire paperwork, and record maintenance. Their role is to serve as a first line of contact between employees and the HR department. They prepare new employee intake paperwork and assist employees with access to the training and benefits they need. The HR Onboarding Specialist sorts, and updates records, disposes of old records properly, and makes day-to-day updates to the online employee management system and employee records as needed.

Primary Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the recruiting and hiring process, review, and process new hire paperwork
  • Obtain and verify employment references
  • Handle background checks and clearances with outside vendors
  • Schedules new hire orientations and assists with onboarding new hires with onboarding procedures
  • Accurately manages employee files both hard and virtual copies
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of HR functions and duties

Essential skills and qualifications for an ideal HR Onboarding Specialist:

  • Knowledge of online Paycom system
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of the Department of Health compliance procedures and fingerprints
  • Familiar with fingerprints procedures related to the Department of Education
  • Knowledge of administrative tasks and responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills and resourceful thinking
  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • Strong empathy and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and analytically driven

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of experience with administration and data entry

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources or related field
  • Basic knowledge of Paycom

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
