Job Summary
King School is looking for qualified applicants with competitive high school or college football coaching and playing experience for the position of Varsity Head Football Coach. Highly motivated candidates possessing strong leadership and communication skills are encouraged to apply. The Head Coach will have responsibility for all aspects of the program, including mentorship and oversight of the assistant, JV, and middle school coaches, and be the face of King Football program, providing leadership in the ongoing development, growth, and improvement of the program from grades 6-12. The Head Coach will execute effective teaching and coaching techniques to help the athletes optimize their athletic skill, acumen and attitude, and be expected to build upon rich tradition and history of the program. The Head Coach will also constructively collaborate with students and adults in a positive spirit; display and promote sportsmanship and citizenship; and demonstrate a commitment to King’s Virtues and Diversity Policy. The Head Coach will be expected to uphold and promote the mission and philosophy of the King School and the Athletics Department, while following the rules set forth by the Metropolitan Independent Football League (MIFL).
Responsibilities and Primary Duties
- Serve as an inspirational leader and positive role model. Thoughtfully engage in best practices around safety standards and motivating student athletes in the context of King’s Mission and Virtues.
- Draw from a strong working knowledge of the sport to plan and facilitate daily, meaningful practices, and execute effective teaching/coaching techniques during games, building on the competitive foundation and strong culture of the program.
- Oversee the direction of the King Football Program for the Varsity, JV and Middle School teams in collaboration with the Dean of Athletics and Athletics Operations Director, mentoring assistant and Middle School coaches.
- Market and promote King Football in the community, proactively identifying, attracting, and recruiting prospective scholar-athletes and their families.
- Work with College Counseling Office, supporting students who are recruited or interested in playing at the collegiate level.
- Coordinate out-of-season strength and conditioning and training opportunities and oversee and lead summer activities and training for student-athletes in the program.
