Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and homelike environment for individuals in our programs. Duties may involve grounds keeping, general maintenance repairs, snow removal, transporting, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, or basic electrical knowledge. The Maintenance Specialist will be required to remain on-call (rotating) for emergencies, complete assigned jobs within a reasonable amount of time, assist others in performing various duties, and maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.

Schedules available:

• Monday - Friday (8am-4pm) - community-based, providing services for our residences located throughout Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia, and Westchester counties.
• Monday - Friday (7am-3pm) - campus-based, providing services for our school and residences located in Red Hook, NY.

Education: High School Diploma required. Will be waived if candidate can demonstrate five (5) years experience in building maintenance, in an institutional setting.

Experience: One year of maintenance experience required. Some knowledge in carpentry, electrical or plumbing preferred.

Physical Requirements: Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants or other chemical or controlled substances. Significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and lifting of 70 lbs or more.

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) COVID-19 vaccine mandate requires staff without an approved medical or religious exemption to be fully vaccinated to be employed in this program. If you are fully vaccinated, you will need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or have an approved medical or religious exemption prior to starting.
