Job description
Us
Seed Health is a microbiome science company pioneering innovations in probiotics and living medicines to impact human and planetary health. Our scientific board comprises leading scientists, researchers, and clinicians across the fields of microbiology, immunology, bioinformatics, dermatology, oral health, vaginal health, gastroenterology, mental health, pediatrics, and nutrition.
Consumer innovations are commercialized under Seed® with a mission to bring much-needed precision, efficacy, education and perspective-shifting science communication to the global category of probiotics. Our efforts to set a new standard in probiotics, microbial innovation and translational communication have earned various accolades, including Fast Company's World Changing Ideas in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, and TIME's Best Inventions 2018.
We focus on categories where microbial innovations and microbiome-related products will disrupt and capture global market share in the coming years (e.g. oral care, skin care, infant health, etc.). We have built a strong foundation with breakthrough research and strong intellectual property, and believe there is a substantial opportunity to emerge as an innovative product line, backed by the most rigorous science.
We are building our best-in-class operations team to be both the mitochondrial engine of our rapidly expanding ecosystem, but also the cytoplasmic glue that keeps us all cohesively and efficiently connected - working together to improve human and planetary health.
You will report to, and support, our Director of Supply Chain in protecting our micro-organisms and ensuring that our customers enjoy an absolutely seamless experience across our current and future products. You are a problem solver. You have monk-like patience and can remain calm in the eye of the storm, while quickly, but methodically, finding a way to safety and balance. You are a great listener, embrace finding solutions while others panic, and will not rest until you understand every detail that caused an issue, and have implemented a redundant, risk-free system to ensure it never occurs again.
We know operations can mean a lot of things, which means you need to be ready for, and excited to solve, anything. You know that Murphy's Law is the poetry of growth and innovation, and not something to be feared. You understand the complexities and nuances of our business, and how to move projects and key improvements cross-functionally across various internal stakeholders. You can prioritize, manage, and successfully drive fixes across hundreds of projects at once. You work nimbly within a network of suppliers and partners respectfully, while holding them accountable down to the tiniest promises they make to Seed and our customers.
What You'll Do
- Manage relationships and scale a specialized network of suppliers to seamlessly transport materials and packaging through our supply chain.
- Support the optimization of our Logistics Operation–both domestic and international–to ensure the highest quality customer experience possible, while analyzing and understanding the costs or impacts to the business.
- Be responsible for the monitoring & management of our KPIs across fulfillment, distribution, and logistics. Prepare and present running QBRs to internal stakeholders detailing overall performance, areas of focus, & continuous improvement initiatives.
- Project manage implementation of new operational initiatives and ensure cross-functional collaboration, input and buy-in.
- Oversee landed cost unit economics, proactively communicating cost updates with finance + operations.
- Troubleshoot supply chain issues that impact the customer experience and work across E-commerce, Supply Chain, and Member Experience teams to track, prioritize, and solve the most pressing problems of our booming business.
- Effectively prioritize and communicate daily needs for the broader Seed Health organization and operational plans to our fulfilment partners to ensure a seamless daily operation for our employees and customers.
- Be responsible for validating & sharing rolling 30-day fulfillment forecasts with 3PL and provide any feedback to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with our purchasing and warehousing teams to ensure appropriate & accurate inventory levels across our partners and warehouses.
- Partner with product development, marketing, and our operational partners to help manage the BOM development and launch of new items.
- Prepare and identify gaps or risks in the operation necessary for expansion into new channels such as multi-node warehouse distribution, retail sales, international wholesale distribution, or practitioner sales.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to optimize cost savings and own month-end reconciliation of all-in costs.
You
- Bachelor's degree in economics, business, or supply chain management
- At least 4-6 years of operational experience across fulfillment, distribution, and international inbound/outbound logistics
- Strong financial acumen
- Demonstrable experience working individually or in smaller teams that have scaled
