Medical Billing Specialist - Job Description:
This position will process and submit claims to various Home Health and Hospice payers and reports directly to the Billing Manager.
- Process Medicare/PDGM admissions
- Process eligibility inquiries Medicare/PDGM payers
- Submitting Home Health Medicare and other PDGM claims
- Submit NOAs and monitor daily
- Submit and monitor final claims
- Medicare Secondary Payer billing
- Post Medicare/PDGM payments and research short/overpayments
- Maintain Medicare/PDGM problem list
- Enter adjustments in billing and financial software systems and ensure they balance.
- Process medical supply import files.
- Run regular aging reports for PDGM payers, research short or overpayments, and report problems to supervisor
- Process and monitor Hospice claims.
- Run regular aging reports for Hospice claims, research short or overpayments, and report problems to supervisor.
- Submit medical records as required by insurances
- Assist with month end process and regulatory reporting, as needed.
- Perform month end process and regulatory reporting, as needed
- Cross training and back up for other billing staff, as needed
- Other accounting support tasks, as needed
Medical Billing Specialist - Qualifications/Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in the medical billing department of a healthcare company
- Previous experience with healthcare practice management systems (EMR/Billing)
- Home Health and Hospice industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
- MS Office with an emphasis on MS Excel experience
- QuickBooks experience highly desirable.
- High level of attention to detail and strong time-management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to learn and process information quickly
- Enjoys taking on challenges and doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction
