Corterra of Wichita, a geriatric behavioral hospital, is currently seeking a Medical Records Coder. If you're a detail-oriented coding professional looking to make a difference, we want to hear from you! This role offers a great opportunity to showcase your strong organizational skills while being a valuable member of our team. RHIT, CCS, or RHIA certification is strongly preferred; however, careful consideration will be given to directly related experience without a certification.

Key accountabilities for this position include the following:

• Ensuring that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per governmental and insurance regulations
• Complying with medical coding guidelines and policies
• Receiving and reviewing patient charts and documents for verification and accuracy
• Following up and clarifying any information that is not clear to other team members
• Preparing patient charts and gathering information and documents from patients
• Ensuring that the medical records are organized, accurate, and complete
• Creating digital copies of paperwork and storing the records electronically
• Filing the paperwork and reports of patients quickly and accurately
• Safeguarding patient records and ensuring HIPAA standards are met
• Processing the records for admitting and discharging patients
