The Moorings of Arlington Heights, a premier Senior Living community, is looking for a friendly, service focused Mini-Mart Cashier.
Hours are M-F and EOWE 7 AM to 3 PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stores food and supplies in correct containers and in proper storage areas according to department guidelines
- Maintains records and logs documenting storage temperatures of perishable food items daily.
- Dates, labels, and rotates stock according to procedure.
- Prepares food and supply order based upon product specification
- Assists customers with questions and provides suggestions as to items that might fit their needs
- Secures and maintains proper storage of alcoholic items in accordance with local and state liquor license.
- Works independently
- Maintains and displays inventory in an attractive and pleasing manner to entice sales
- Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
- Identifies and utilizes cleaning chemicals following directions recommended by manufacturers and per SDS sheets.
- Works in tandem with chef on the cross utilization of product to reduce waste
- Exhibits pleasant and cheerful demeanor and maintains a helpful attitude towards all stakeholders.
- Completes accurate inventory weekly
- Works with manager on maintaining appropriate stock levels
- Adheres to facility confidentiality and patient’s rights policy as outlined in the facility’s HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Helps create sales opportunities and upselling of items
- Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures and assists with evacuation of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency.
- Ensures that there are no expired items. Ability to discount them with approval before expiration date.
- Performs other tasks as may be assigned.
- Is aware of Presbyterian Homes Corporate Compliance policies including those having to do with confidentiality and security of information, and concerns for the well being of residents and patients. Demonstrates behaviors and completes work in a manner consistent with these policies.
EDUCATION: High School or GED
EXPERIENCE: Retail, cash register and customer-service experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to speak, read and write English
- Ability to operate a POS system, process credit card and cash sales
- Ability to make educated and informed decisions when necessary
- Ability to function in a busy environment and remain composed and organized during peak service times.
- Friendly and personable attitude
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age. Capable of lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds or more. Capable of standing and maneuvering independently and safely around work area. Capable of standing on a tile floor for an eight-hour shift. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and to manipulate kitchen equipment, including slicer, chopper, proessor, knives, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Pleasant residential area and special functions. Fast paced, must do trouble shooting.
