The RISC group is looking for a graduate assistant (GA) for Spring 2023 semester. The job duties include serving as research assistant for Peace Engineering and National Parks Vertically Integrated Programs (VIP) classes. For this purpose, the GA will be required to attend both classes on Tuesday Mornings, participate in preparing class materials and help with grading.

The GA is also expected to work with GTRI research faculty in ongoing projects in data collection, data analysis, modeling and literature review. As a part of job responsibilities, the GA will help with building and setting up prototypes installations, project logistics, and attend research sites for any ongoing tasks.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

• Pursuing a Master’s degree in Engineering, Public policy, Sciences or Architecture
• Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours at Georgia Tech during working semesters
• 3.0 or higher GPA
• Commit to 10-20 hours of work per week
• Background and skill set in data analytics and geographic information systems (GIS)
• Experience with research methods, statistical analysis and data collection
• Skills in 3D modeling, programming, GIS, and Agent-based simulation
• Ability to work in on-site data collection
• Ability to build prototypes and physical models
• Ability to serve as a teaching assistant for Vertically Integrated Projects
• Ability to learn new complex engineering concepts

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in 1 or more programming languages
• Experience with 3D modeling, spatial analysis, GIS, and Agent-based simulation
• Experience in social science work
• Experience in the area of sustainability and health
• Experience as a teaching assistant
