The Speech Language and Brain Lab in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking to hire a Research Associate to work under the direction of Gayle DeDe, PhD, CCC-SLP. The Research Associate will be responsible for activities relating to a NIH-funded, multi-site Clinical Trial about treatment for people with aphasia.

Essential Functions: Support participant recruitment through identifying and contacting potential recruitment sites, and scheduling; Participate in data collection and data coding. The research associate will contribute to the development of and implement data coding protocols (e.g., standardized tests, coding narrative speech samples, developing systems to ensure reliability of codes); Learn how to use RedCap in order to maintain and update study databases; Assist in compiling materials for periodic reporting and institutional review board submissions; Monitor day-to-day project activities and ensure timely progress and compliance with study protocols and human subjects’ regulations; Reporting to the PI, support day-to-day activities of the lab, including participant remuneration (petty cash) and coordinating with research staff at other study sites; Reporting to the PI, assume other duties as needed, such as assisting with supervision of students and/or research assistants, grant applications and manuscript submissions; Communicate effectively with people who have aphasia; Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field (especially Human Neuroscience, Linguistics, or Psychology) and at least 1 year of research experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
