In this pre-sales, product specialist role, you will leverage your expertise and experience to understand and effectively communicate the benefits of MathWorks tools for signal integrity and SerDes design. You will act as a technical advisor to customers who are developing cutting edge technologies (e.g., PCI Express, USB, and Ethernet). The key to your success will be your ability to build trusted relationships internally and with our customers. Your interpersonal skills, technical expertise, and motivation for continuous improvement will make you an excellent candidate for this position.

This position is based in Santa Clara, CA. Expect to travel about 20-30% of the time.

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities by leveraging technical knowledge of Signal Integrity and SerDes products.
  • Providing technical advice to customers during the sales process, including performing product demonstrations, answering technical questions, and developing proof-of-concept solutions.
  • Engaging in technical projects with existing customers to help them improve their workflows using MathWorks solutions.
  • Collaborating with the sales team to develop sales strategies and plans for selling Signal Integrity products.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, including technical decision-makers and influencers.
  • Conducting technical presentations and seminars (including at conferences and tradeshows) to educate customers and industry partners on the benefits of MathWorks’ Signal Integrity and SerDes products.
  • Developing and maintaining technical knowledge of competitive products and industry trends.
  • Providing feedback to the product development team on customer needs and requirements.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, including marketing, engineering, and customer support, to ensure customer needs are met.

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • High motivation for working directly with customers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • 3+ years of experience in signal integrity and/or SerDes (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR, GDDR)
  • Knowledge of commercial signal integrity design and implementation workflows (from simulation to hardware implementation)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pluses:

  • MATLAB or Simulink experience
  • Knowlegde and experience with IBIS-AMI models
  • Hands-on experience creating IBIS-AMI models
  • Experience in a relevant technical industry (e.g. Semiconductors, Communication/Electronics, Automotive)
  • Experience in a customer facing role (Marketing, Application Engineering, Training, Tech Support, Sales)
  • Knowledge of relevant industry tools (e.g., SiSoft, ADS, HyperLynx, Sigrity, HSPICE)
  • Knowledge of other analog/mixed-signal systems (ADC, DAC, PLL, CDR, SMPS)

Salary range of $135,500 to $210,000 (inclusive of target commission for staff in eligible roles). In addition, MathWorks offers benefits and a quarterly bonus program. Individual compensation is determined by a candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.


  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree, or equivalent experience) is required.
