RES is currently accepting applications for a Stream and Wetland Engineer / Designer with 3+ years of experience in its Sacramento, CA office. Work associated with this position will occur throughout California.

The mission: to support a growing, multi-disciplinary team of ecosystem restoration designers and engineers currently working on some of the nation’s largest rivers, streams, and wetland restoration projects! We take pride in the work that we do, and we make appropriate decisions to produce a well-performing project, so we are looking for a SUSTAINABILITY ENTHUSIAST and an EFFECTIVE TEAM PLAYER, capable of contributing to this process.

What your day-to-day might look like?

30% of your time, you will be in the field, performing geomorphic, biological, and ecological site assessments, performing fluvial geomorphic surveys, providing construction oversite for restoration projects, and assisting in site monitoring.

35% of the time, you will be supporting the team in data processing and issuing some pieces of technical writing. The team will need support with mitigation crediting calculations, restoration design process documentation, written portions of proposals, regulatory permit applications, and post-construction monitoring reports. Be ready to showcase your communication skills during the interview.

35% of your time, you will be designing. The team will need support on hydrologic and geomorphic parameter selection and design leading into a 3-dimensional design within the Autodesk Civil 3D environment. You will be extensively using AutoCAD to draft designs and develop preliminary, final, and construction restoration plan sets, so AutoCAD Civil 3D experience creating and drafting designs and developing construction plan sets is a must.

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in a natural resources design field (such as but not limited to landscape architecture, civil engineering, environmental engineering, biological systems engineering, agricultural engineering, or water resources engineering) or a natural sciences field (such as but not limited to geology or geomorphology).
  • On the job experience with stream restoration, field data collection, wetland mitigation crediting protocol execution, construction oversite, and restoration monitoring.
  • A working understanding of watershed hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, stream hydraulics, and sediment transport.

What will make you stand out?

  • A Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience with ArcGIS
  • Experience creating and utilizing Hydrologic and Hydraulic models such as HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS
  • Knowledge of California regulatory requirements, including Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, CDFW 1602
