The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter is seeking the addition of an experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Residential Support Department and help us train newly hired Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff working in Arc IRAs! In this role you will support new DSP's as they transition from initial orientation training to hands-on, site specific training and applications in the home. In this role your primary responsibility is to acclimate the new staff into the Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA) and help build relationships with the people in the home as well as the other staff within the IRA.

Responsibilities:
- Work individually with every newly hired DSP to train and ensure the DSP understands and comprehends their responsibilities related to core responsibilities pertaining to the operation of a site to include, but not limited to compliance, quality, communicate, policies and procedures and regulatory standards.
- Develop an on-boarding schedule for each new hire to ensure training is completed timely and includes evaluations at 3, 6 and 12 month intervals minimum.
- Provide feedback to the appropriate Director's on the progress, or lack of for each new hire.
- Introduce the DSP to every person living in the IRA and give an overview of each person.
- Deliver site specific training
- Once the DSP is trained in the Agency's Eating Precaution training, provide one on one practical training for food prep for every person so the DSP will know where to find any necessary adaptive equipment, etc.
- Provide specific orientation to the IRA to acclimate the DSP on the systems of the IRA, i.e., where PPE is stored, where food is stored in various locations in the IRA, washer and dryer location, garbage process, cleaning processes, etc.
- Train DSPs on the use of agency computer applications such as deputy and Therap.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and three to four years' experience working with the developmentally disabled.
- Associate's Degree or High school diploma and five or more years' experience working with the developmentally disabled.
- Specialized training may be substituted for one year
- Prior experience in training is preferred.
- Must have a positive attitude and a positive past work history.
- Valid NYS Driver's License required.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of every new DSP hire.
