Tanzu Labs Business Operations Technical Program Manager

The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?

Do you enjoy the pace of managing multiple projects and the creativity in helping business leaders solve problems? Are you looking for a role that uses your business experience that doesn't limit you to a specific discipline?

We are looking for someone to help us solve real, operational problems and enable our business leaders to make decisions faster. We also need this individual to manage programs and projects and lead the execution globally. If you like business operations and like working across disciplines, this role is for you.

What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

At VMware Tanzu Labs we help customers modernize their applications and infrastructure so they can deliver better software to production, continuously. Our Delivery Leaders and their consulting teams work with customers around the world who recognize software is core to what they do.

The Services Business Operations team provides the support and orchestration of internal activities for the business to run better, and allows Leaders to focus on delivering customer outcomes. We need someone to join our team in managing projects that make business operations better.

What it takes for you to be successful in this role:

You have a strong foundation in business - maybe it’s Consulting, Sales Operations, Business Operations, Product Management or IT - and can leverage that to work in a generalist role. You are a structured thinker, who thrives on disciplined execution. While you can keep a laser focus on a project, you can also easily shift that focus from one type of project to the next. Working across functions in the company, outside of our team, is something that energizes you. The team is seeking a self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to multitask. Must have ability to efficiently organize, drive multiple programs at once, and take initiative with minimal guidance.

As a Technical Program Manager on this team, you will perform the following and more:

  • Manage and support the roll out of Services-wide initiatives including, process improvements, new software and tooling, hiring initiatives, communications programs and return to work plans

  • Collaborate with global Service Leaders to identify operational bottlenecks, develop actionable remediation plans, and measure progress

  • Work cross-functionally, especially with the strategy team to align stakeholders on key outcomes

  • Communicate and document clear, concise processes and actions

  • Coordinate with our Operations Leaders in executing plans

  • Collect feedback on new project rollouts and integrate with subsequent iterations

  • Manage the execution of employee engagement programs that increase team member alignment, retention, drive inclusion, and empower employees with the confidence to innovate

  • Roll out change management strategies as significant changes are introduced

  • Analyze employee engagement survey data to identify key areas for strategic development

  • Identify improvement opportunities and drive solutioning efforts

Required Skills:

  • Strong program, product and project management capabilities, including the ability to balance multiple, high-urgency projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize commitments

  • Strong analytical skills, comfortable working with large or small data sets (employee database, qualitative and quantitative survey data) and synthesizing data into executive summaries to create a compelling case for change

  • Experience defining and executing Change Management strategies

  • Ability to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision

  • Ability to interact with entire organization including senior management, with confidence and ease and manage senior stakeholders, when necessary

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and foster strong business partnerships

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Understand agile product development processes

  • Trustworthy and approachable with the maturity to handle confidential information

  • Highly organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented

  • 3-7 years of experience (Consulting, Product Management, Program Management, aBusiness Operations, Sales Operations, HR, Finance, or IT)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite tools

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in high-tech is appreciated, but not required
