- Optimize the investment portfolio composition and return, within the constraints of current and future balance sheet needs, as well as maintaining compliance within the current regulatory framework.
- Research and recommend alternative asset classes to be used in lieu of standard investment opportunities to enhance yield and balance sheet characteristics.
- Outline and execute investment strategy as described in Investment Strategy statement presented at Investment Committee meetings on a quarterly basis.
- Coordinate, develop and maintain on-going product pricing strategies.
- Maintain ongoing forecasting process to ensure accurate and reliable forecast strategies.
- Coordinate model maintenance and assumption review on a regular basis.
- Coordinate quarterly ALM reporting to the Funds Management Committee.
- Identify strategies and make recommendations for optimal balance sheet performance and risk management.
- Enhance cash management and correspondent relationships.
- As a member of the Leadership Team, participate in strategic planning, annual improvement plans and credit union-wide budgeting and resource allocation.
- Oversee the interest rate risk modeling portion of the annual budget, midyear update, and longer-term budgeting processes.
- Perform special studies as directed – driven by credit unions annual business plan.
- Comply with all necessary regulatory requirements within the scope of the position.
- Maintain up to date policies to include but not limited to: ALM policy, Investment policy, Secondary Marketing policy, and Liquidity policy.
- Assure adherence to federal and state regulations in all areas of responsibility.
- Attend seminars and educational conferences to stay abreast of industry best practices.
- Negotiate, secure and manage the Credit Union’s corporate insurance coverage for property and casualty, directors and officers, workers comp, and all other lines of coverage.
- Monitor and suggest changes to product pricing or structure to ensure products and pricing are competitive, yet also make financial sense for the organization to offer.
- Responsible for assessing financial strength and risks associated with all vendors deemed critical or important to UWCU’s continuing operations.

- Ensure interest rate risk embedded in the mortgage pipeline is mitigated to the extent required by corporate goals and strategies.
- Coordinate with Lending and Mortgage divisions to manage correspondent relationships.
- Maintain and manage TBA lines with counterparties to assure adequate capacity is available to hedge entire mortgage pipeline.
- Ensure accurate and timely dissemination of reporting to all areas requiring information on this process.
- Conduct and oversee annual review of counterparties.
- Negotiate and arrange access to credit to meet regulatory and organizational thresholds for liquidity access.
- Manage daily liquidity to ensure balance between returns, compliance with policy limits, and access to funds to meet daily operations.
- Perform stress testing on the balance sheet to ensure the credit union is prepared and able to meet its financial obligations in unusual and stressed environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, related field or equivalent work experience required
- 4+ years of experience in leadership position required
- Experience working in a financial institution or related industry required
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, budgetary control systems, investments, and asset/liability management practices
- Proven history of successful financial reporting program development and improvement
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Master of Business Administration
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Certification
