THIS IS AN IDEAL ROLE FOR TEACHERS (REGULAR OR SUBSTITUTE) AND COLLEGE STUDENTS/GRADUATES, BUT OTHERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS WELL.

NOTE: CURRENTLY, WE ARE LOOKING FOR TUTORS WHO CAN TUTOR STUDENTS IN THEIR HOMES IN NORTH LAKELAND (ESPECIALLY ZIP CODE 33810). AN APPLICANT MUST BE ABLE TO MEET THIS REQUIREMENT IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED. The most requested times for tutoring are between the hours of 4pm and 8pm, Monday through Thursday, though some requests will be for daytime and/or weekends (Friday through Sunday).

We are currently seeking knowledgeable, dependable, and enthusiastic tutors to help students with their academic and learning needs in the Lakeland area. Ideal candidates will be willing to travel to students’ homes in Lakeland to meet them for in-person tutoring sessions.

Our greatest needs are currently in the following areas:

• Math (grade K through Pre-Calculus)
• Reading/English (grade K through 8)
• Science (K through 12)
• TUTORS WHO CAN TUTOR BOTH ELEMENTARY ELA/READING AND ELEMENTARY MATH ARE HIGHLY DESIRABLE

Tutors will assist students to excel in the given subject and will also report to parents (or adult student) on the student’s progress after each session.

The Tutor Doctor method works with tutors to help them achieve success for themselves and for their students: Tutor Doctor consults with each student/family, before matching the student with a tutor, to understand the student’s unique needs, goals, personality, etc. Our tutors work as independent contractors, using their own preferred methods of instruction. At the same time, Tutor Doctor supplies them with optional online resources to supplement theirs. We offer flexible work hours, with most students needing our service during afterschool/evening/weekend hours. Tutor Doctor collaborates with tutors to make sure that an arrangement that works for both student and tutor is achieved.

Ideal Qualifications (candidate should possess some or all):

· Current college or university student or graduate teaching assistant

· College or university graduate

· Previous tutoring or teaching experience

· Retired or active educators

· Must be able to pass criminal background check

· Must have reliable transportation for in-home lessons

This position is part-time, and tutors will work as independent contractors.

• Do you understand that this is an independent contractor role, and that your hourly wages will be recorded on a Form 1099 for tax purposes?
• Will you submit to a criminal background check (required for all tutors)?

• Do you have experience of knowledge of the curriculum in Polk County Schools? If you have experience in other schools, please describe that instead (including what schools).
• Do you have experience working with children with special needs such as ADHD, autism, etc? If so, please list the special needs that you would be comfortable with when placed with a student.
• Can you tutor BOTH math and reading/ELA for grades K-5? If so, have you tutored students in the Polk County Schools?
• Currently, almost all our tutoring roles require tutors to travel to homes in Lakeland. Some jobs are in north Lakeland, and some are in south Lakeland.
• Do you hold a current Florida teacher certificate (renewable, temporary, or certificate of eligibility)? If yes, what are the endorsements on your certificate?
