Summit Bicycles, the Santa Clara Premier bicycle shop and repair center is hiring! We'll cut to the chase, if you are a hardworking and motivated sales person, mechanic or bike builder, you can clear an effective pay rate of $30+/hr! See pay rate breakdown by position below. In Santa Clara your earning potential is high as most of the bikes we build, sell and repair are high end, typically $1300+ per unit. All of the FT positions we are looking to fill are long term positions. Performance of job tasks and duties will greatly determine our assistance with such expenses. We will take into account travel expenses for those who will need to drive 20+ minutes.

Start dates for these positions are ASAP. Compensation will be hourly with the possibility of goal-based bonuses.

Requirements:
- Enthusiasm for bicycles! It doesn't matter what kind of bike you ride as long as you love it!

- Technician: Mechanical experience to some extent. Amateur work is also acceptable

Sales

We are looking for a FT/PT sales associate with experience in retail or other sales. Bicycle experience is appreciated, but extensive training is available. We specialize in high end road and mountain bicycles, with emphasis on customer service and a better customer experience. As such, the most important quality we are looking for is a positive attitude, and efficient work ethic.

Sales associate responsibilities include:
1. Helping customers in their product and service searches. Responding quickly to their requests and updating throughout any process.
2. Facing, merchandising and receiving of products
3. Accumulating Knowledge about the bikes and products we stock
4. Fitting customers to bicycles
5. Assisting service staff in work load
6. Assisting store and general managers in operations

Sales position pay:
- $15/hr+ based on experience level
- $100 bonus for ebike sales
- 1% commission on bicycle sales.
- 7% commission on add-ons sold with bikes, this rate doubles to 14% if our store hits it's monthly sales goal. We typically reach our monthly sales goal 80% of the year.

Example: If you sell a $8,000 e-mountain bike with $500 in accessories (pedals, shoes, helmet), your commission is: $80 for the bike (1%), +$100 for it being an ebike (spot bonus), and +$35 (7%) or $70 (14% if we hit our monthly sales goal) for the accessories sold. That's a total of $250 in commission for just one bike sale!

Bike mechanic responsibilities include:
1. Helping customers in their product and service searches. Responding quickly to their requests and updating throughout any process.
2. Completing repairs efficiently and correctly.
3. Building bikes as needed
4. Assisting service manager in completing daily duties
5. Assisting sales staff in work load
6. Assisting store and general managers in operations

- $15/hr+ base pay based on experience level
- 10% commission on labor completed
- 8% commission on full tune ($159) or complete overhaul sales ($349 road bike, $549 mountain bike)
- 12% annual tune sales ($249)

Example of pay:
You sell a annual tune on a bicycle, earning 12% commission ($29.88) on the $249 repair. You then complete the repair on the bike, earning 10% commission ($24.90). That's a total of $54.78 in commission, on top of your $15/hr base pay!

Bike builder expectations and information:
1. You are a mechanically inclined individual.
2. Attention to detail and efficiency are strong skillsets for you.
3. Experience is preferred but not necessary.
4. The range of bicycles we build is huge, kids bikes that take 20 minutes to assemble all the way up to high-end road and mountain bikes that can take a couple hours.
5. Bike builder compensation is paid per unit built. The pay is tiered based on how complex the bike you build is.

Commission Rate per bike:
High End bike build - 1% of retail price of the bike (building a $6000 pays you $60)
Hybrid bike build - $12.00
Boxing a bike for shipment - $20.00
Road < 2000 $15.00
MTB < 2000 $15.00
Kids bike - $10.00
Bike Build Check Over - $5.00

We follow all up to date face covering mandates. Currently all employees and customers must wear face coverings regardless of vaccination status.
