This position will handle a variety of administrative and communications related tasks for the church. This person must be well organized, flexible, proactive, and willing to learn. Must be comfortable with new and changing technology and social media and highly skilled in verbal, written, and electronic communications. This position reports to the Senior Pastor and works with the pastoral staff, other church staff members, and the Church Council.

The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday between the hours of 9AM to 5PM. Based on the needs of the successful candidate and St. Mark's there may be some degree of schedule flexibility. All of St. Mark's staff are required to successfully complete the "Safe Gatherings" background check and abuse prevention training program (2 hour CBT). St. Mark's covers the cost of this program. This exempt full-time position receives paid vacation and holidays, and a $350/month supplemental pay to assist with healthcare cost.

Responsibilities :

The following is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities but rather a representation of what may be required by the position.

  • Day to day support of the Pastor(s), staff and Congregation Council.
  • Answering Phones and greeting visitors to the church.
  • Coordinating and maintaining calendars, scheduling and building usage .
  • Maintain office and worship supplies/resources for staff and others and ensure office equipment is operational
  • Act as primary contact for individuals/families wanting to know about St. Mark's, individuals and/or groups seeking to use facilities for activities, and other general inquiries.
  • Maintaining church records in church management software.
  • Plan, create/write, and distribute all print publications (bulletins, newsletters, special mailings).
  • Plan, create/write, and distribute all electronic communications (email, text, social media, and website).
  • Preparation of slide content for livestream of worship services and special events.
  • Creation and Implementation of new pathways to enhance the reach of St. Mark's Lutheran Church through social media, ad campaigns, mass mailings, and other channels.
  • Proof all emails going to large groups of people from various ministries.
  • Partner with ministry leaders on their communication strategy, provide direction for graphic design and create a comprehensive communication calendar

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with prior experience in one or more of the following: administrative assistant, office manager, graphic design, communications, or similar position.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving; seek improvement opportunities.
  • Willingness to work in a team dynamic, to take both initiative and direction, and eagerness to continue professional development.
  • Ability to work with, for and through numerous operating committees and individuals.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written, verbal, and digital platforms.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, MailChimp, and WordPress with a commitment to grow in proficiency.
  • Possess the ability to create content from scratch, demonstrating a strong eye for typography, color, layout, and overall design.
  • Possess a strong ability to lead a creative team, working with members who specialize in a variety of disciplines (i.e., graphic design, video, social media, app development, etc.).
  • Possess a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, After Effects, and Premier), Canva, and/or equivalent applications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
