We're partnering with a boutique real estate development and management firm that has expanded its footprint and now operates in 8 states with over 2000 units. After bringing in outside investors and acquiring larger properties, the firm is now looking to strengthen its accounting infrastructure and looking for an experienced Controller to lead the function. They've built a great culture here, far from the stuffy and corporate environments found in many similar companies.In this newly created role, you'll lead the transition away from an outsourced accounting firm and build the function in-house while partnering with senior management and property managers. This is a great opportunity to really put your name on something and the Partners are looking for someone who can bring a vision of the processes that need building/implementing, and the ability to execute on that. You'll manage one Senior Accountant and build out a bigger team accordingly.
This role requires someone to be in the office 2 days a week
What we're looking for:
- 8+ years of accounting experience with the majority being spent in real estate
- Multi-family residential real estate experience is required
- Ability to keep the bigger picture in mind while being willing to get your hands dirty
- Ambitious and entrepreneurial mindset
- Bonus points if you've been in an environment with more robust and established processes and can leverage that knowledge when scaling this function
