POSITION PURPOSE / SUMMARY STATEMENT (defines the major functions/purpose of the position):
The Graphics Designer, SMU Footwear and Accessories is responsible for the project based graphics and prints for SMU Footwear and performance apparel that align with Global and Regional goals, vision, and guardrails. Must have the ability to invoke new trends, concepts and promote new ideas each season.
The Graphics Designer will support and collaborate with SMU Footwear Designers, brand partners and Product Merchandising to drive market-leading graphics and prints that reflect the business case of the Product Brief. Must have the ability to deliver technical specifications, flat sketches, printing instructions for tech pack creation. This position requires strong organizational skills as well as expertise in technical fabrics and products. Must have knowledge of functional area, business strategies and company goals and effectively communicate these strategies and goals through design output and presentation.
The Graphics Designer, Regional Creation Graphics must also have a comprehensive understanding of regional and global markets as well as the product selling process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (include titles of positions directly reporting to this position):
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Interacts with all levels throughout organization including employees and outside vendors
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creative output using graphic art and design for SMU Footwear and apparel graphics, prints, and embellishments that support global and regional brand and design directives. (internal)
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate graphic vision into designs that achieve sales and gross margin plans.
- Interface with Key Accounts for SMU (Special Make Up) Projects.
- Support Design and Merchandising as needed to create and manage designs and Merch Board presentations, as well as standardize Tech Drawings and CADs for seasonal initiatives.
- Assist in preparing design tools required by Sales and Product Merchandising to communicate effectively with customers—from pre-line to sell-in.
- Communicate designs, vision, and stories to internal and external audiences informally and at a high level as necessary.
- Offer expertise in production of graphics and advise when necessary.
- Participate in Product Development, Costing, and Product Merchandising to ensure achievement of both functionality and margin goals.
- Stringent Production Calendar adherence.
- Participation in scale, engineering and quality of art and design.
- Assist product teams in creating impactful presentations for seasonal sales & marketing meetings.
- Travel, research and seasonal trend reports to all product teams by product segments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 4+ years of Graphics’ experience in performance apparel and/or footwear
- Prefer Bachelor’s Degree (B.F.A./B.S.) in Graphic Art/Design, Apparel/Textile Design, or a related field
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and related Design software
- Knowledge of repeat prints, fabric printing – including engineered placement and dye sublimation, garment construction, materials and properties, costing, pattern making, embroidery and appliques
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentations
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Experience or knowledge of Microsoft 365
