Clarivate is seeking a driven Director of Technical Accounting to join our global accounting team! Reporting to the VP of External Reporting & Technical Accounting, you will be responsible for the technical accounting and accounting policy functions for the organization. Managing a team of direct reports, you will mentor and grow the team while motivating and reinforcing. Partnering with key stakeholders across the organization, you will work closely with Controllership, Corporate Development, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and Investor Relations groups. Keeping current on new ASC 606 and SEC regulations along with US GAAP and IFRS pronouncements, you will continuously assess the impact to the Company of changing accounting practices. Utilizing your strong technical accounting background, you will comfortably and confidently navigate through innovative and complex matters while working and effectively communicating with multiple cross-functional teams
About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments…
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
- CPA
- 9+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 4+ years of Big 4 and/or Big 10 accounting experience mandatory
- Strong technical knowledge of ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) US GAAP, IFRS, SEC rules and regulations
It would be great if you also had…
- Master’s Degree Accounting/Finance; MBA
- Experience within the technology industry and/or large accelerated filers preferable and a major plus factor
- Extensive experience with complex and significant business combinations, M&A transaction and purchase accounting, Pro Forma financial statements, accounting policy alignment and goodwill impairment testing preferred
- Strong understanding of an effective and efficient internal control environment
- Global management experience
What will you be doing in this role?...
- Responsible for the technical accounting of all acquisitions including accounting policy alignment, purchase accounting, preparation of related Proforma financial statements and related 10-K/10-Q business combinations disclosures.
- Accountable for the Company's annual impairment testing of goodwill and acquired intangibles
- Manage and perform accounting research and technical compliance research. Thoroughly research and document all accounting principles and procedural recommendations while assisting in resolving financial issues.
- Implement accounting policies, procedures and systems as required, and ensure internal control procedures are adequate, properly documented and regularly reviewed. Establish and/or enhance existing processes and controls to best in class.
- Effectively communicate new US GAAP, IFRS, SEC and ASC 606 findings and impact to the Company to senior management. Establish and implement any new reporting requirements issued by various governing bodies.
- Attract, develop, and retain competent and committed staff. Establish clear performance objectives for each direct report.
