PURPOSE:
The role of the receptionist is very important in the smooth operation of the Community Center. The receptionist is responsible for the overall functioning of the Community Center welcome area; and assisting with various activities in the Community Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer any phone calls. Must be able to work a multi-line phone system.
- Assist the public with information requests.
- Communicate updates and information with members and guests.
- Use CCMS (Community Center Management System) to receive and keep accurate records of monies received, as well as handle and process registrations and sensitive information.
- Distribute flyers and schedules.
- Monitor gymnasium, weight room, restrooms, parking lots, and public places.
- Maintain Community Center bulletin boards.
- Keep a record of all participants in Community Center programs.
- Distribute and collect equipment.
- Complete daily tasks check list, including the cleaning of the gym, sweeping, and picking up trash.
- Enforce the rules of the Community Center and the polices of The Salvation Army.
- Be available for special events and assume additional responsibilities in the overall Community Center Program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position may require occasional lifting of materials up to 40 pounds. This position works with minimum supervision and requires the ability to make independent decisions to meet deadlines.
The employee works with minimum supervision and the work involves a high degree of independence. May be required to make independent decisions that may involve unique or unusual situations and/or complex issues and dealing with demanding requests and/or timelines.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Authorization of a criminal history check is required. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude employment.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma or GED is required as well as a minimum of five years work experience.
