We are currently hiring for Housekeeper Specialist, Floor Finishers and Bio-Medical Waste Handlers for Duke University Hospital and surrounding buildings of Duke University Health System. We have all shifts available (1st; 2nd and 3rd) as well as full time and part time opportunities.

Occupational Summary

Perform routine manual work in cleaning, servicing, and stocking supplies in Duke University buildings.

Work Performed

• Clean patient rooms and/or offices thoroughly by mopping floors, washing furniture, scrubbing

plastic cushions, frames and cleaning and washing bathroom fixtures and walls.

• Replenish and maintain sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of day to day duties.
• Sweep, mop, buff and spray buff floors and vacuum rugs and carpets in assigned area as needed.
• Follow all universal precautions, blood borne pathogen procedures and use personal protective

equipment as needed while cleaning patient care areas.

• Wash windows, walls and other assigned areas. Pick up trash, empty garbage containers, and remove

all trash to area for disposal.

• Clean, wash, dust, or polish hardware, brass, furniture, mirrors, bedside lighting fixtures, vents,

radiators, and exteriors of cabinets and equipment.

• Clean drinking fountains, ice-making machines and sand urns; clean blinds with damp cloth or

vacuum.

• Sanitize all trash containers as necessary to meet Health Department requirements.
• Report repairs needed to supervisors including broken or cracked window panes, leaky faucets,

toilets, loose tiles, broken blinds and damaged furniture.

• Pack, unpack and assist in receiving, issuing and transporting materials; report needed items for

reorder.

• Aid in transferring various items between departments and throughout the Facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Work requires the ability to understand and follow instructions generally acquired through a partial high school education.

Experience: None required. Ability to perform physical tasks, including mopping, vacuuming, etc. is also required. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
