SUMMARY

Under direct supervision, assists with planning activities for equipment layouts in production facilities. Conducts studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects, parts, and evaluates other miscellaneous cost factors. Support IE activities for two facilities. Travel is required between the two facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinates plans equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to maximize utilization of plant and manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with established industry safety and design standards and guidelines.
  • Evaluates worker productivity and recommends improvements to increase manpower efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions.
  • Tracks and reports metrics to measure plant and equipment capacity output and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks.
  • Assists with the establishment of accident prevention measures and plans and schedules training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operation.
  • Leads 5s methods, continuous process improvements, Kaizen programs, and quality initiatives.
  • Maintain process routes for parts and finished goods.
  • Maintain production standards for fabricated parts and finished goods.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and/or up to two years related field experience. Knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Familiarity with performing time studies and line balancing
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interaction with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of business environments and understanding of common business procedures
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Has no discretion to vary from established procedures. Has no related work experience or has work experience but requires formal training in theories/concepts in own function. Receives instruction, guidance, and direction from others.

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing:

  • Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc.
  • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment.
  • Ability to use of hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment.
  • Requires standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be able to walk and use hands.
  • Ability to read, write, listen and speak.

Non-Manufacturing:

  • Typically work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate.
  • Requires standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift boxes/materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Requires telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other employees and customers.
  • Ability to read, write, listen and speak.
