Job description

We are presently seeking a Mechanical Components Engineer to perform conceptual development, modeling of energetic components and systems, and provides program support for defense programs. The Mechanical Components Engineer will interact with customers, suppliers, and program teams to ensure products meet requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop product designs and 3D product models to meet customer design requirements;
  • Select material specifications to meet performance and environmental requirements;
  • Generate 2D drawings as required for Technical Data Package creation;
  • Interact with customers on design, interface and functional details;
  • Support the manufacturing and analysis of energetic materials;
  • Support the site compliance with DOT regulations;
  • Support project and operations teams;
  • Support existing products and product upgrades;
  • Participate in failure analysis activities;
  • Performs design trade studies and hand calculations;
  • Perform tolerance studies;
  • Support bid and proposal activities;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline;
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in developing and manufacturing products preferred;
  • Aerospace and/or defense product experiences are a bonus;
  • Must be capable of learning and applying energetics knowledge to various designs, including igniters, detonators, CAD/PAD, and similar energetic devices;
  • Experience generating 3D models & 2D drawings;
  • Demonstrated understanding of specifications and requirements and how to translate into product designs;
  • Demonstrated understanding and practice of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T);
  • Understanding of product cost drivers;
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills;
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite software;
  • Experience with SolidWorks, ProE, or AutoCAD software preferred;
  • Experience with energetic materials is a bonus.
