JOB FUNCTION:

  • Maintain a clean and neatly organized pantry, includes but not limited to: rotation of stock, keeping track of expiration dates, washing out refrigerators and freezers, and wiping down shelves.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures.
  • Communicate with the director regarding what items are running low and when there are new items to be added to list.
  • Train Volunteers in the pantry.
  • Supervise the staff and volunteers in the pantry.
  • Fill clients boxes, paying close attention to what is asked for and any directives and that the proper amount is being given out.
  • May be asked to shop and/or pick up food donations.
  • Must be up to date with all FoodLink requirements.
  • Responsible for checking that FoodLink orders are complete when received in and turning in paperwork to the director.
  • Oversees the FoodLink retail donation project.

HOURS: Fulltime Position (30 hours per week), primarily Monday – Friday 9:00am -3:30pm,with some flexibility for evenings and weekends.

SPECIFICDUTIES:

Pantry

  • Unloading of delivery trucks as well as learning of Food Link ordering / reporting system.
  • Making of client food baskets.
  • Stocking of shelves.
  • Cross train in other agency departments especially Thrift Store.
  • Food pantry pick-ups.
  • Clean up and upkeep of Pantry and related spaces.

Client Advocate

  • Perform client intakes / assistance of accessing SCHOC services.
  • Distribution of client food pantry tickets, and other necessary vouchers.
  • Office duties i.e., answering phones, filing, faxing, report tabulation, and related computer duties.

Supports Mission of the Agency

  • Participate in staff meetings and all department duties.
  • Proactively strive to improve pantry / agency operations, through awareness, discussion, and superior customer service.
  • Other duties as outlined in Position Description, by Pantry Manager and Agency Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma / GED minimum.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of customer service
  • Ability / willingness to multitask.
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to lift pantry donations /deliveries up to 50lbs alone and heavier items with assistance.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing records. Ability to be flexible, sensitive to and supportive of the needs of others.
  • Willingness to travel and to make off site pick-ups, and various agency related runs.
  • Ability to work courteously with diverse populations.

RATE OF PAY: $12.50/ hr.
