Job Description

Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. The College also provides non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry.

BRCC is seeking a full-time program director to manage the affairs of its Pharmacy Technician program. The position provides leadership, development, direction, recruitment, instruction, and administration of all aspects of the program. Establishes and chairs an Advisory Board. Oversees the curricula and ensures curricula reflect the standards set by the accrediting body (ASHP). Ensures coverage of program courses by qualified instructors and clinical preceptors. Secures appropriate clinical sites and oversees the training and placement of students at clinical sites. Holds responsibility for enrollment in the pharmacy tech program and participates with other departments across the college to ensure that student recruitment efforts are effective. Holds responsibility for creation of a budget for the program and handles all budgetary needs. Engages in program evaluation processes, including maintaining records and completion of annual reports and strategic plans. Ensures that Program Learning Outcomes, as well as Course Learning Outcomes, are being collected and analyzed as per guidelines set by the accrediting body. Works with Career Services as needed in job placement activities for graduates. Performs other duties as assigned.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician with a minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacy practice. Knowledge and experience in adhering to Virginia State licensure/certification regulations in the practice of pharmacy. Demonstrates ongoing continuing education in the field of pharmacy.
Additional requirements for applicants that are Pharmacy Technicians. Must have graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited pharmacy technician program; OR possess/actively pursuing at least an Associate’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications
Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to serve as a visionary, effective leader, and strategic thinker. Program administration experience, to include budget management and strategic planning. Passion for the mission of the College and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a broad range of constituents, including senior leadership, faculty, students, staff and external partners.
