About the role:

This position is for a Plant Process Operator responsibilities include operating plant equipment in line with approved HS&E, quality, and production guidelines to meet customer expectations.


What you’ll be doing:


  • Perform job duties in a safe and conscientious manner, following all procedures, programs, and policies established for specific processes and calling attention to any unsafe acts observed in the work of others.
  • Understand and operate the equipment or processes in the area of assignment.
  • Assist with Plant Facility startup and commissioning.
  • Responsible for being familiar with mechanical operation of piping and equipment in the assigned area.
  • Assist in the development of SOP’s and training of others.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance work by means of Lockout Tagout (LOTO).
  • Startup and shutdown process equipment.
  • Understand diagrams, equipment, process description, process control, problem solving of area, SOPs, etc.
  • Basic maintenance skills including troubleshooting equipment and the permit systems. Make minor adjustments/repairs to the unit.
  • Handle all hazardous chemicals and waste in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • High level of awareness for Safety, Environmental, and Quality concerns.
  • Understand and operate control systems and instrumentation in the area of assignment.
  • Observe equipment operations to ensure quality and conformity of manufactured or packaged products and intermediates.
  • Remove finished product from equipment and separate rejected items.
  • Make periodic checks of process and equipment settings.
  • If assigned, operate a DCS control system including all aspects of the plant.
  • Inspect processes and work to assure effective quality control.
  • Participate in the development of the department continuous improvement projects and on project teams.
  • Function with the production team effectively and as a team player.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed by your supervisor.

What we’re looking for:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: 2-3 years experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of operating procedures and chemical reactions.
  • Able to work in a chemical plant.
  • Must be mechanical minded and analytical.
  • Experience using a DCS control system.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs and climb ladders.
  • Ability to systematically troubleshoot and problem solve integrated processes.
  • Must be able to wear and operate a respirator.
  • Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Wear safety equipment, such as, safety glasses, earplugs, and steel toed shoes.
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts which will include weekends and holidays.
  • Occasional travel will be required.


Other qualities we’d love for you to have:

  • Associate degree or higher in Process Technology, or a related field of study.
  • Startup and commissioning experience.
