Description:The Kresge Law Library at the Notre Dame Law School is seeking an outgoing and service oriented individual to join its Research and Teaching team. This is a full-time faculty appointment with a presumptively renewable contract that contributes to the educational mission of the Law School. The Kresge Law Library is an integral part of the Notre Dame Law School and offers many opportunities for developing professional skills and excellence in teaching. Both experienced librarians and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. This position is designed for someone whose career goals are to build the experience and skills to advance into a position with increasing degrees of responsibility.

Duties:

• Provide research service to the faculty and students of the law school, the University community, and the public.
• Teach one or more sections of the first-year introductory legal research course and topical/advanced legal research courses based on expertise and interests.
• Participate in collection development activities in coordination with the Collection Development Librarian.
• Participate in the faculty liaison program by meeting regularly with assigned faculty about their research interests, attending their workshop presentations, making recommendations on their behalf to the Collection Development Librarian, and training faculty research assistants.
• Collaborate with the other librarians to promote electronic resources to students and faculty.
• Collaborate with the Hesburgh Libraries to provide seamless access to Notre Dame's information resources.
• Work with other departments in the Law Library to ensure patron needs are met.
• Participate in professional organizations and other activities for professional advancement.
• Other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits: Salary will be nationally competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; 20 vacation days and approximately 14 paid holidays; retirement options; tuition benefits for dependents; and access to University events. The Law Library pays for individual membership in the American Association of Law Libraries

(AALL) and provides support for appropriate conferences and workshops. The Law Library will also pay for relocation expenses and annual license/registration fees for one state bar.

South Bend and Environs: The University of Notre Dame is situated in a metropolitan area of over 300,000 with a very low cost of living, affordable housing, and its own airport. South Bend has been listed as one of the 10 Most Beautiful and Affordable Places to Live in the U.S. It is less than two hours travel time to downtown Chicago by interstate highway with several different bus, train, and shuttle options. Close to the Indiana Dunes National Park, wide, sandy beaches are 45 minutes away on the Lake Michigan shore, and the area has numerous other outdoor amenities.

Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:

• JD from an ABA-accredited institution (or equivalent degree) and a MLIS from an ALA- accredited institution (or equivalent degree).
• Knowledge of legal materials, research methodology, and current trends in the legal profession and law libraries.
• Awareness of current technology trends in the legal profession and law libraries.
• Strong service orientation and awareness of end user needs.
• Strong interest in developing skills in instruction and curriculum design.
• Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
• Enthusiasm, creativity, and eagerness to propose new projects and workflows.
• Ability to learn new technology independently and to adapt quickly to changing technologies.
• Appreciation for diversity and inclusion and the different viewpoints and backgrounds that enrich the educational mission of the University.
• Must be self-motivated and interested in advancing in the profession.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an academic library setting, preferably an academic law library.
• An appreciation for social justice, diversity, inclusion, and the different viewpoints and backgrounds that enrich the educational mission of the university.
• Interest in instructional design theory.
• Experience in classroom teaching and in the effective integration of new technologies in teaching and learning.
• Collaborative nature and interest in working with parties from multiple disciplines and promoting the law librarys instructional programs
• Individuals from underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
