Position Summary:
As an experienced Aquity coder, you will be responsible for providing coding and abstracting services for same day surgery, observation, and injection and infusions using ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding coding systems. You will use established coding principles, software, and knowledge along with a thorough review of the medical record to provide exceptional support to our clients. You will participate in coding education within the team. You will work remotely in your home office with equipment provided by Aquity.
Requirements:

• CCS, CPC, RHIA or RHIT required.
• Candidates must have skills in acute care same day surgery , observation accounts of all kinds.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have minimum of 1 year of related coding experience
• Understands medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology and disease processes.
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding principles and guidelines, reimbursement systems, federal, state and payor-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding and billing.
• Knowledge of common hospital EMR systems
• Must pass SDS, OBS, and Injection/Infusion coding proficiency tests

Essential Functions:

• Reviews medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures relative to the patient's health care encounter
• Selects the correct diagnoses, procedures, and CPT and/or charge codes that are applicable to the patient’s care
• Coder will apply charge codes for injections and infusions that occur in the observation setting
• Coder may calculate and/or validate observation hours based on medical record documentation
• Abstracts appropriate information from the medical record based on the guidelines provided by the client
• Solicits clarification from the physician regarding ambiguous or conflicting documentation in the medical record using AHIMA query guidelines as well as any guidance provided by the client
• Participates in Coding Roundtables through materials, articles and webinars
• Maintains current knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
• Maintains effective and professional communication skills
• Contributes to a positive company image by exhibiting professionalism, adaptability and mutual respect

Compensation and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to current market conditions, location, education, work experience, certifications, etc. Aquity Solutions offers a competitive benefits package including healthcare, 401k, and paid time off (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements for full-time employees).
