Note: this is a Corporate position stationed at The Whitehall Hotel, 105 East Delaware, Chicago, Illinois.

Job Summary:

Analyze rate strategies of hotels to improve overall revenue growth. Make recommendations to hotel and corporate management and implement changes as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily reports for Corporate Revenue Manager
  • Create and utilize rate strategy by verifying and reviewing forecasting reports
  • Utilize rate shop reports on a daily basis
  • Adjust, enter and audit room rates into appropriate systems and ensure rate parity
  • Rate shop competitors to ensure hotel rates are properly placed
  • Control and maintain room night inventory on all distribution channels including PMS system
  • Build relationship with OTA Market Managers
  • Communicate strategies/promotions/packages to all appropriate departments prior to implementation
  • Prepare and present required information at revenue meetings
  • Prepare the forecast on a weekly basis
  • Monitor group cutoff dates and notify the Sales Department if adjustments need to be made
  • Identify and propose strategies to gain additional revenue
  • Prepare displacement analysis for all groups
  • Analyze weekly and monthly STR reports for trends and make recommendations for changes in strategy
  • Develop new reporting tools using Excel
  • Prepare end of month reports
  • Support the Reservations, Sales, and Front Office departments as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred in accounting, business administration or related field; 2 years of experience in hospitality industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Financial analysis software. Previous experience with Sabre-Synxis and Property Management software is preferred.

Other

Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may occasionally include weekends and holidays. Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
