Title: Shipping & Receiving Manager
City, State: Mocksville, NC (near Winston-Salem/Charlotte area)
Reports to: Plant Manager
Relocation: Nationwide relocation assistance is available
Summary: The Shipping & Receiving Manager ensures incoming supplies and finished product are properly received, stored, allocated and shipped accurately and efficiently to our customers through the effective utilization of personnel, equipment, and resources. Operating on our “One Team, One Mission” approach, this position collaborates with key stakeholders to attain facility goals and ensure storage and transportation schedules meet production, purchasing and sanitation requirements.
Essential Functions:
· Provides leadership to Shipping/Receiving team through supervision, training and continuous performance management that promotes a positive culture consistent with Brakebush mission and values. Reviews time and attendance for accuracy and timely submittal to Payroll. Responsible for team’s annual participation in SQF and Safety training, implementing Quality Assurance Corrective Actions, documentation, and potential retraining activities.
· Collaborates across multiple shifts, facilities, departments (esp. warehouse personnel, Maintenance, Utilities, IT) and external vendorsto train on and maintain standardized shipping, storage, and SAP practices and proper equipment use company-wide; includes reporting on equipment/facility needs and repairs. Provides back-up to Receiving Supervisor and team as needed. Reports status to key team members in regularly scheduled update meetings.
· Serves as primary administrator of Shipping/Receiving department who effectively maintains department inventory of supplies and equipment, initiates weekly SAP Post Goods Issues, and completes IT-directed stack testing. Supports regulatoryand compliant practices through tracking and completion of routine and annual Shipping department logs and necessary documentation; works with Safety on accident/damage claim investigations that originate in the department; provides accurate support documents for annual inventory and Quality Assurance audits.
· Operates as the department’s primary trainer/oversees team certification on Power Industrial Truck (PIT) and other large equipment to ensure driver qualification and safety. Develops and trains Leads, Backup Leads and key department team members on new SAP processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Five plus years of supervisory/management experience in warehouse management/shipping and receiving
- Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, and OSHA standards
- Able to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner
- Strong interpersonal skills, to include professional oral and written communication, a team-focused approach, and the ability to model composure/make decisions in stressful situations.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior supervisory experience in a poultry/food processing setting
- Licensed for forklift, pallet jack, scissor lifts, and other PIT equipment
- Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts and SAP
- A post-secondary degree
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Knowledge of general First Aid and CPR
Supervisory Responsibility: This position will manage the shipping supervisors at the Mocksville facility.
Work Environment: Wide variations in environment temperature (-10 freezer, 32-degree coolers, 40-degree plant, wet cold environment) noise, slippery floors and moving equipment.
Physical Demands: Position will include extensive standing at times, sitting, lifting, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, visual, responding quickly to sounds and driving.
Travel: Some travel maybe required for trainings and classes.
