The Social Media Specialist plays a key role in the performance of Montgomery’s digital marketing channels across multiple stores by developing content and implementing digital media strategy for Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, Montgomerys.com and more while maximizing each channel to ensure a consistent message is delivered to customers in collaboration with the Marketing and Merchandising Departments.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

Working as part of our Marketing team, the Social Media Specialist is responsible for implementing the latest social media marketing initiatives with the end goal of improving Montgomery’s brand awareness and engagement. Responsibilities include devising strategic campaigns for each department based on our target audience and executing them on social media platforms. Excellent web content writing skills and graphic design skills are crucial to the success of the strategist. This position is located on-site in Sioux Falls and requires occasional travel to all store locations.

Responsibilities:

• Write, edit, and publish engaging posts for various social networks
• Optimize social media posts (language, tone, message) based on our target audience’s behaviors
• Select appealing images and videos that are in line with our company’s overall brand and positioning within the market
• Update our social media pages with compelling company news
• Coordinate with internal teams to create advertising posts (e.g. for events, open roles, new product)
• Track and report on social media insights (traffic, engagement, shares, conversion rates)
• Apply advertising techniques to boost brand awareness, like promotions and contests
• Respond to questions and comments on our social media pages in a timely and accurate manner
• Engage Montgomery’s online community by responding to comments and messages, and facilitating discussions
• Handle the communication with our website chat feature
• Utilize and adjust the social media content calendar, maintaining a proactive posting schedule to coordinate efforts with industry news, seasonal trends, and other organizational marketing initiatives
• Manage marketing giveaways/contests
• Create images and graphics for social media channels in relation to current promotion
• Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager on email marketing initiatives
• Creation of print advertising and collateral materials
• Partner with the Merchandising team to stay on top of latest merchandise trends
• Stay educated on all regulations and usages features for our social media platforms
• Research, identify and build relationships with influencers, bloggers, and associated communities
• Work with our digital agency to incorporate SEO best practices across social platforms
• And all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a Social Media Strategist or similar role for a minimum of one year
• Hands-on experience of managing various social media platforms
• Graphic design skills
• Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics)
• Strong understanding of Sprout platform
• Familiarity with online paid advertising
• Photography skills are a plus
• Ability to deliver creative web content (text, image, and video)
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• BS in Marketing, Communications, or relevant field
