Job description

South Dakota Licensed Attorney Wanted! Candidates must be licensed in South Dakota.

Our nationwide law firm concentrates on solving problems faced by entities that own or hold liens on motor vehicles. If an issue impacts motor vehicle ownership, we likely have a service to provide and, due to the number of motor vehicles in our clients' portfolios, we are not short on work!

With this volume, we are constantly growing. This is not only great news for those seeking entry-level positions, but new supervisory and management positions are regularly being created. Being a niche firm does not translate to being a small firm.

All of our lawyers are full-time employees, and we currently do not establish of-counsel arrangements or co-counsel arrangements. We look for great lawyers in every state and in all sorts of practice areas. Due to the enormous reach that would be required to conduct conflict checks, no outside client representation is permitted.

Nationally, we need lawyers with a wide range of experience. Some of our practice areas are research and writing, insurance litigation, corporate governance, contracts, information security, intellectual property, arbitration, appellate, secured transactions, and professional responsibility/ethics. With our current growth, even non-traditional practice areas will be considered.

To attract and keep the best talent, we offer salaries commensurate with experience and a competitive benefits package. We offer what you'd expect a great firm would offer; health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, FSA (depending on your chosen health plan), HSAs (depending on your chosen health plan), life insurance, disability insurance, employee discount programs, flexible scheduling, generous paid time off and much more!

Primary Needs:

We are seeking attorneys to negotiate and litigate diminished value, impound and property damage claims. You will attempt to resolve impound lien disputes with repair shops and tow yards or insurance claim disputes with insurance adjusters and/or attorneys. When negotiations fail, you may file arbitrations and/or litigation.

  • Timely review new assignments including analyzing liability, property damages, and opposition's objections to determine the strength of each claim and develop negotiation plans.
  • Communicate directly with insurance adjusters, insurance claims supervisors, attorneys, clients and others by telephone and through written correspondence.
  • Review, interpret, and evaluate all information to determine damages on motor vehicle diminished value claims. This includes interpreting/understanding the relevant law, automobile market data, coverage limits, police reports, and repair estimates.
  • Negotiate and settle claims for appropriate amounts within discretionary authority; obtain necessary documents and releases from clients, and confirm settlement payments as soon as practical.
  • Document all activity on all claims including a record of all contacts, investigation, negotiations, and documentary evidence.
  • Adhere to the Rules of Professional Conduct.
