Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Community Engagement, the Sr. Associate Director, Alumni Relations and Community Engagement’s primary responsibility is leveraging existing relationships, and developing innovative, meaningful engagement pathways for Stanford Alumni to engage with the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability as we work to create a future where humans and nature thrive together in concert and perpetuity. Building on a swath of existing systems and programs, we are looking for an innovative, action oriented leader to work in close partnership with SDSS External Relations leadership, the Stanford Alumni Association, alumni volunteers, and campus colleagues to develop, implement, and evaluate new activities, programs, services, and communications that reach, serve, and engage alumni with the SDSS while advancing SDSSs impact in the world.
Core Duties:
- Partner to reimagine alumni engagement reflecting the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainaiblity’s unique impact oriented objectives as we seek to empower all Stanford Alumni to be engaged with the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability.
- Act as the SDSS partner with the Stanford Alumni Association and on all alumni related initiatives at the university such as the SDSS Reunion Homecoming Reception & Alumni Awards Ceremony, Professional Association receptions, Commencement with a “welcome to alumni-hood” strategy and partnering with the Stanford Associates.
- Develop and maintain a robust network of relationships with alumni, alumni groups and myriad campus partners.
- Use data to design programming and events to increase engagement amongst alumni who are not yet engaged with the SDSS.
- Ensure proper utilization of faculty, staff, and students in activities such as producing ongoing alumni education, e-newsletters and the establishment of new programs while adhering to established processes and norms within University External Relations, the Stanford Alumni Association and the SDSS.
- Bring a commitment to engaging and motivating groups of diverse individuals and ensuring that our alumni engagement opportunities are inclusive and equitable.
- Design, execute, and measure new innovative alumni education and outreach programs that enhance the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability's visibility and reputation.
- Identify, manage, and steward speakers and presenters for alumni events.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

The expected pay range for this position is $95,000 to $112,000 per annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequent sitting.
- Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, use a telephone, write by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
