General Summary

The Sr. Payroll & HR Specialist will be a high energy individual that can multi-task in a forever changing environment, be deadline driven with great attention to detail!

The BY YOUR SIDE Sr. Payroll & HR Specialist primarily responsible for processing and administering payroll bi-weekly, HR Data input into the Paylocity Payroll system and Central Reach data base system, overseeing the operations in the human resource department, including onboarding, orientation, benefits, workers compensation, Leaves and enforcing policies and practices. This position will also be a point person for employee relation concerns/issues/investigations.

The Sr. Payroll Specialist handles all aspects of the payment process, from tracking employees’ time through issuing paychecks. The main goal is to ensure employees receive their pay timely and correctly. Employees depend on a company to pay them accurately and on time. Their duties include consolidating timesheet information, entering data into payroll database, follow up on PTO and Holiday requests and distributing online funds to employee accounts, in addition to ensuring quarterly and year-end taxes and responsibilities are complete.

The Sr. Payroll and Human Resources Specialist will assist with Onboarding, oversee all FMLA and leave requests, track leaves, returns and payment reimbursements as well as point person on Workers Compensation injuries, investigations and processes to improve workers compensation claims.

The Sr. Payroll and Human Resources Specialist will also assist and follow up with the human resources and health email boxes.

This is a full-time position and hours of work and days may vary based upon the needs of the business (basically 8:00 – 5:00pm), overseeing our Darien, Oak Brook, Plainfield and Tinley Park locations. After the 60-day training, this role may be flexible to working remotely one to two days a week.

Payroll & HR Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Human Resources/Business Management preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a Payroll role required. o Paylocity and Central Reach experience a plus.
  • 2+ years’ experience in an HR role required.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information. Experience handling such information and confidentiality is required.
  • Flexibility and dependability with schedule.
  • Must have a high level of initiative and be able to work effectively without constant, direct supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple changing priorities and deadlines.
