Whittle Strategic Accounting provides fractional CFO and bookkeeping services to clients in the nonprofit and service industries.
Our firm's mission is to empower others to change the world and we so do through strategic accounting services. We consider ourselves part of our clients' teams and take an active role in accounting, operations, HR and other business functions. While this position is hybrid, our team from across the country is actively engaged with each other throughout the day via team chats as well as team and one-on-one meetings.
SUMMARY: As a staff accountant for Whittle, you'll get the exciting opportunity to work in a remote professional environment while supporting for- and nonprofit clients that make a true impact on our community. You'll keep client accounting records current and accurate and provide hands-on strategic accounting services can be provided in a cloud-based, paperless environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform monthly close duties including reconciling accounts and recording accruals
- Process accounts payable transactions including coding bills to appropriate general ledger account and cost center and as well as paying bills
- Weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
- Record deposits
- Support external auditors by providing audit support workpapers and schedules
- Process client payroll
- Analyze monthly financials to ensure accuracy and identify trends
- Assist with client grant reports and other requests
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS as described below:
- Local to Fort Wayne, Indiana is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Minimum 2 years experience with bookkeeping and monthly close duties
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook and Word)
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated and able to get along with others, be punctual and follow instructions
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Good organizational and planning skills, with a proven ability to manage time well in a fast-paced, ever-changing, team-oriented environment
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Assess problems and create solutions with a strong sense of urgency
- High level of integrity and strict adherence to protecting confidential information
- Demonstrated leadership experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $44,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
