ABOUT GOLDMINER'S DAUGHTER LODGE

Since its opening in 1962, Goldminer's Daughter has served as a base of operations for anyone enjoying "the greatest snow on earth." Before it was the home of world-renowned skiing, Alta was a mining town. We get our name and personality from the saloon that once stood in almost the exact same spot as our beloved lodge in homage to the sense of adventure and risk-seeking mentality that drove those miners to throw caution to the wind and head deep into Little Cottonwood Canyon. Even our employees are powder junkies. We strive for lasting relationships with our entire community, guests, and employees alike.

CONSIDERATIONS: Will be required to work extended hours during peak times, weekends and holidays as necessary. Position may work out of various Lodge outlets (i.e. housekeeping) and rotate through different shifts. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

JOB SUMMARY: Assists Lodge guests with baggage, provides shuttle service and assists with general facility needs and maintenance while providing excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Acknowledges, greets and converses with guests upon their arrival and upon departure.
• Assists Lodge guests upon check-in and out with luggage as needed.
• Conducts daily vacuuming, dusting and window washing of commons areas.
• Shovels outdoor Lodge areas including patio deck, doorways, etc.
• Conducts shuttle runs up and down canyon for Lodge guests.
• Drops off Lodge recycling at dump and drop off/pick up mail at post office.
• Repairs, fixes, maintains all guest/employee rooms, lodge appliances, lodge outlets, etc...
• Provides overall assistance to all departments including but not limited to taking trash out, changing light bulbs, changing out kegs, bussing, changing out broken TVs, running cables.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 21 & over with a clean driving record.
• Employee has legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 1 year experience in hospitality industry or related area preferred.
• High school Diploma or GED required. Valid driver's license and successful completion of DMV background check required.
• Able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. required.
• Outgoing personality required.
• Able to present a professional appearance required: well groomed & trimmed hair, clean uniform, no facial piercings.
• Basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting skills helpful.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Able to problem solve in a fast pace environment required.
• Able to speak, read, write and communicate clearly in English required. Conduct general Lodge maintenance as directed by Lodge Management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Perks:

• At least 3 of the 5 working days in a week there will be time available to ski.
• First year full time employees who want to ski pay two-hundred-dollar ski deposit. Returning full time employees don't pay a deposit.
• If a full-time employee doesn't want to ski then they will receive a nine-hundred-dollar payout at the successful completion of the season in leau of the ski pass.

We have onsite housing available upon request. The rooms house between two and three people. Second season employees who apply in time have first access to the two-person capacity bedrooms. Each room has its own bathroom.

Employees who choose to live on site will pay Room & board is automatically deducted bi-weekly from a paycheck at a daily rate of $20 per person. which includes:

• Three meals per day.
• WIFI access.
• A ski bus pass.
• Access to fitness room, hot tub and sauna.

Employees who don't live on site receive the following:

• Two meals per day worked.
• A ski bus pass.
• Access to fitness room, hot tub and sauna.

Things to know:

• Goldminer's Daughter Lodge is only seventy-five feet away from the nearest ski lift which makes us the ideal ski in ski out lodge for both employees and guests.
• We have some of the best employee housing in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
• Our busiest time of year is Mid-February until April first.
• Bringing cars to Alta is not recommended because of limited parking and the restrictions to vehicles that don't have four-wheel drive and winter tires or chains.
• This is a shared tip position for Caf front of house employees.
• The ski buses travel between the Salt Lake Metro Area and Alta from Mid-December until the second weekend in April. Service is every half hour from seven am until six pm and there is a bus stop at Goldminer's Daughter Lodge.

• Employee housing:
  • For seasonal full-time employees only.
  • Employees are paired with a member of the same-sex (couples or friends may be paired together space permitting).
  • Room & board is automatically deducted bi-weekly at a daily rate of Twenty Dollars per person..
  • This position requires flexibility with start times and availability to work weekends. There are several rotating shifts, however, the majority of the shifts provide ample ski time.
