National Journal is hiring an Accounts Receivable Specialist. We are looking for an individual with a curious mind and customer service skills to lead our invoicing and collections efforts with customers.

What is National Journal’s Finance Team?
We are a customer service organization serving our external clients and the National Journal client-facing teams. The National Journal Finance Team oversees budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, payroll, invoice operations and AR, vendor management and AP.
The Role:
This role requires attention to detail, a service-oriented mindset, an ability to learn new processes and accounting systems, and a willingness to recommend process improvements and become a problem solver. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of our customer invoicing and collections process. There is potential to expand this role into additional areas of finance and increase the salary for an individual who demonstrates mastery of the AR role.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Daily invoice generation using Salesforce and Netsuite
- Daily interaction with Revenue team to generate invoices with client customization requests
- Managing supplier portals for clients and uploading invoices as necessary
- Weekly reviews with accounting team to ensure accuracy of cash application
- Overseeing dunning process to ensure accuracy of automated customer notifications
- Sending follow-up cash collections emails to clients
- Supporting client-facing teams in collections conversations with customers
- Monthly reconciliations between systems and revenue accounts
- Potential to expand role and responsibilities to other areas of finance once the AR process is mastered
Qualifications of the Ideal candidate:
- Excel proficiency and excellent written communication skills are required
- Knowledge of accounting principles regarding accounts receivable and deferred revenue
- Detail oriented and strong organization skills
- Desire to expand financial knowledge and learn new skills beyond Accounts Receivable role
- Customer service oriented
- Entrepreneurial spirit; Track record of building new initiatives from conception to execution
- Creative thinking and resourcefulness in problem-solving
- Prodigious work ethic and spirit of generosity
- A full course of the COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment at National Journal
- Active contributor to a diverse and inclusive workplace
Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: The salary range for this role is $45,000-$55,000
Remote Status: Hybrid work environment, based in Washington DC on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays
