Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short 10-minute drive to the ocean front. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions, and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization.
Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has a PRN Cook position (hours vary). Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays. The following is a job summary for this position:
Preparing food for meals and special functions. Preparing patient/staff trays and salad/dessert bars. Serving food to patients staff and guests. Performing cleaning, stocking, maintenance, sanitation and trash removal as assigned.
Assisting in maintaining high standards of quality service excellence, safety and sanitation through efficient use of resources in compliance with local, state, federal, Joint Commission and corporate standards.
Working in a team environment to ensure the successful daily operation and maintenance of the kitchen, serving, cafeteria and dishwashing areas.
Qualifications:
High School graduate, GED or equivalent experience. One or more years of professional experience required; institutional cooking experience preferred. Must possess knowledge of food science, food production, catering, quality and quantity food preparation, sanitation, equipment operation and repair and good oral and written communication skills.
