TITLE: Human Resources Manager – Indianapolis

FLSA: Full-Time, Exempt (Salary)

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Includes times of on-call as needed.

As our business continues to grow, we are searching for an experienced Human Resources Manager to take on a leadership role at our Indianapolis location. The role will report directly to the Director of Safety and Sr Human Resources Manager and be responsible for general HR duties, as well as safety responsibilities including DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other applicable local, state, and federal compliance initiatives for Indiana. The position will report onsite to that office (no remote work). The work schedule will be M-F 8:00AM to 5:00PM, but the Generalist must be available to take calls outside of office hours to support and solve issues that could negatively impact the business operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as first point of contact for employees with HR or Safety questions/concerns for Indy location.
  • Assess all driver skills regularly to determine areas requiring additional training.
  • Establish follow-up schedule with new hires to ensure they meet performance standards.
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly licensed and required documentation remains on each vehicle.
  • Coordinate required training and maintain training completion records. Identify driver cross-training opportunities.
  • Manage facility safety and compliance including OSHA, Fire Marshall, etc.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety in compliance with all Miller policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist in driver hiring process; scheduling and conducting of interviews, establishment of driver qualifications, and onboarding.
  • Manage employee relations for Indy location, including completing investigations (escalating when necessary), collecting and analyzing data, and providing information to employees regarding benefits and other services available to them.
  • Conduct accident investigations and ensure all required documentation is submitted timely to the Safety Director.
  • Maintain required manual and electronic records for internal and external compliance reporting.
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist Human Resources Manager or Safety Director as needed.
  • Other work as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • One year of related DOT/FMCSA experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP/PHR preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA rules and regulations preferred.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to problem solve under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Must adhere to Miller’s Drug/Alcohol policy – including pre-employment and random drug screen processes, etc.
  • College degree preferred; High School/GED required.
