Job description
Well Coast Medical Corporation is seeking committed, qualified Psychiatrist to treat children, adolescents and adults in San Diego, CA. We offer competitive salary, as well as the opportunity to grow professionally with ongoing extensive support from a highly experienced and collaborative team of mental health providers. There is no call, weekends or evenings required. Clinical hours are typically no more than 35/week, with 1-2 hours for intakes and at least 30 minute appointments for follow-ups. Case supervision with an experienced Psychiatrist is available daily.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Taking complete medical history and psychiatric history
- Diagnosing and treating mental health conditions using evidence based practice, including medication management and brief psychotherapy.
- Collaborating with patients and care team to develop personalized comprehensive treatment plans.
- Creating an effective and ongoing therapeutic relationship with patients and families.
- Supervising/collaborating with psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) and psychiatric physician assistants (PAs) to support treatment.
- Developing cooperative relationships with client therapists and primary care physicians regarding mental health status and treatment.
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in EHR for all patient care, complying with insurance requirements and in accordance with current ethical and legal standards.
- Independently ordering and interpreting laboratory reports and diagnostic imaging reports.
- Facilitating crisis interventions when appropriate
Required Credentialing, Knowledge and Skills:
- Current California medical license (candidates with pending applications will be considered), board eligible/certified, current DEA and at least 1 year experience in psychiatry. Pre-employment background check required.
- Experience treating ADHD a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with other mental health providers including therapists, psychiatrists and advanced practice providers
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be sensitive with persons of diverse social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Compliance with electronic medical records management procedures, including applicable HIPAA practices. Experience with eClinicalWorks or ChARM EMR a plus.
- This position is fully remote (telepsychiatry) during the COVID-19 public health emergency. You must have access to secure high speed internet, and have a private, well-lit office to see patients from home. After the public health emergency ends, the job will be a combination of in-office and telepsychiatry services. You must be willing to come to our San Diego office at least part-time for in-office appointments after the public health emergency ends.

- This is for a full-time salaried employee position with benefits, but applicants seeking a part-time W2 or 1099 position will also be considered. Fourth year psychiatry residents are also welcome to apply for a part-time (moonlighting) position and transition to full-time employment after residency completion.
