Woman-Owned Small Business recognized for consistently providing excellent results for its federal government and private sector clients is seeking a remote Technical Writer. This position will provide technical support to Human Capital Management (HCM) product line within VA Office of Human Resources and Administration Operations, Security, and Preparedness (HRA OSP). HCM enables technological solutions that allow VA employees to focus on their jobs providing benefits and health care services to the Veterans and their families.

POSITION DESCRIPTION (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Maintain and support structured repositories for project documentation including technical repositories, web pages, GigHub, Rational Tools and SharePoint folders.
  • Identify content requirements for each document and apply format requirements for each document, and capture and compile inputs from project participants e.g., stakeholders, user community, senior leadership.
  • Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience
  • Have technical accuracy in writing user documentation
  • Create software documentation after a thorough collaboration with subject matter experts and technical staff
  • Help other writers in creating documentation
  • Ability to take existing and potential content and improve it
  • Convert complex documentation to easy language for multiple audiences
  • Create product manuals with screenshots and tutorials
  • Write documentation for internal teams such as developers and programmers
  • Communicate complex ideas in a concise manner
Requirements:

Education (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related disciplines.
  • 6+ years of proven experience in writing technical documentation bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline is required.
