Job description

The dispatcher role is responsible for managing communications between drivers, equipment personnel, and STS Intermodal management.

• Ability to work with all aspects of dispatch; log audits, regulatory issues, analyze freight movements and match work for optimally loaded miles.
• Perform general office duties such as filing, ordering supplies, answering phones, responding to emails, and preparing documents.
• Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions and disseminate or explain information.
• Ability to get along well with other team members, customers, and management
• Compute, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports.
• Process orders daily from customers with a high level of scrutiny.
• Confirm port and rail dates (ERD/Cut/LFD) and update accordingly.
• Investigate missing information from the schedule.
• Text drivers their daily dispatch for the following day.
• Notify customers of any additional or out-of-scope costs.
• Prepare and review following day paperwork to ensure is hazardous compliant and ready for distribution.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of computers and office systems such as Microsoft Office, FileMaker
Pro, Mac OS, or Windows.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to work independently and in a teamwork environment.

Ability to use problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of basic mathematics and reading comprehension abilities.

Ability to manage time and tasks efficiently and handle multiple competing priorities.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

Understanding of DOT rules and regulations helpful.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
